From: Colleen Stewart, Gilpin County Clerk & Recorder:

There may have been some confusion based on voter ID language in the Voter Instructions included with mail ballots provided to Gilpin County voters who do not need to provide an ID.  The Clerk apologizes to all county residents for the confusion and states in clear terms that no ID is required by the affected Gilpin County voters for submitting a mail in ballot.  The following post card notice clarifying this is being sent as soon as possible to all affected voters in Gilpin County.

ATTENTION GILPIN COUNTY VOTERS:

There may have been some confusion based on voter ID language in the Voter Instructions included with your mail ballot. This notice is intended to address that.  YOU DO NOT NEED TO INCLUDE A COPY OF YOUR ID IN ORDER FOR YOUR VOTE TO BE COUNTED. The Clerk’s office will validate your vote by comparing the signature on your return envelope with the signature we have on file for you. Please sign your return envelope and return your ballot to our office by 7PM on Election Day- remember postmarks do not count.
