Update on the future of Food Stamps during the government shutdown:

Individuals and families who are receiving Food Stamps AND are due for renewal this month of January MUST have their signed Redetermination received by the County Office no later than 1:00PM Tuesday, January 15. Any Redetermination received after January 15, will not receive benefits until the government shutdown is ended.

New applications for Food Stamps received BEFORE Wednesday, January 30, 2019, can be processed for February benefits if all verifications have been received. Any new applications received AFTER January 30, will not receive benefits until the government shutdown is ended.

Signed paper Redeterminations and applications may be submitted in person during regular office hours: 8:00 to 4:30 Monday through Friday. There is an after-hours drop box on the East side of the Justice Center that you may also use. You may also submit a Redetermination or application online at http://www.colorado.gov/PEAK or the phone app MyCOBenefits.

Our Gilpin County Case Managers will do everything they can to ensure timely received Redeterminations and New Applications are processed by these deadlines.

Food Bank Hours: Tuesday and Thursday from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Everyone in the community plays a role in the prevention of child abuse and neglect. Colorado now has one toll-free phone number to report child abuse and neglect 24/7, 365 days a year. All calls are confidential and will be routed to the county where a child resides.
If it is an emergency or you are witnessing a child in a life-threatening situation, call 911 immediately.
You can also call the Gilpin County Department of Human Services directly at 303-582-5444, you will have the option to press 1 to be connected to the Hotline to make the report. If you want to talk to someone first, one of our staff will assist, just as we have in the past and as always, reporting person's name remains confidential.
