Passports

The Passport Office in Gilpin County will be closed on May 30th AND June 6th.  Office will reopen on June 13th for normal business.   

The Gilpin County Passport Acceptance Office is open for business only on Wednesdays  from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the second floor of the Old Courthouse in Central City.  Extensive information about passports is available at travel.state.gov or 1-877-487-2778.


All necessary forms are available, and trained staff can answer your questions. To apply for a passport, you must provide a valid picture ID (State issued ID card, Driver's License, Military ID card or passport) and either a certified birth certificate or a previous passport. You must also provide a regulation passport photo - Gilpin County does NOT do photos. Please refer to travel.state.gov for detailed information.

Please bring at least one check for the fees that are submitted to the US Department of State. For the $35 execution fee that is paid to Gilpin County, we accept cash or check only. Credit/debit cards are not accepted for either payment.
