Gilpin Senior Living Board of Directors. Every 2nd Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the Board of Education Room at the Gilpin County School.


County Manager Abel MontoyaThe Gilpin County Board of County Commissioners is pleased to announce that they have hired Abel Montoya as the county’s new Manager. Mr. Montoya’s first day on the job was August 27. 

Montoya has more than eighteen years of experience in local government administration, and has led multi-disciplinary teams on a wide range of economic and community development projects in both rural and urban areas around the Denver metro area. Montoya comes to Gilpin after working for 16 years for Adams County.  While there, he was Director of Planning and Development, Director of Long Range Planning, and Director of Regional Affairs.  

Montoya also served as Chair of the Adams County Local Emergency Planning Committee.  During his time at Adams County, he was the recipient of numerous awards from the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG), the National Association of Counties (NaCO), and the American Planning Association for his work on urban and rural economic development and tourism projects. 

Montoya received his undergraduate degree in Environmental Design from the University of Colorado-Boulder and a Master’s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning with an emphasis in community and economic development from the University of Colorado-Denver. Montoya is also an officer for his daughter’s school Parent Teacher Association and neighborhood Homeowner’s Association in Thornton, Colorado. Montoya and his wife Anna are Colorado natives and enjoy spending time outdoors with their two children.

Montoya says that Gilpin County’s interest in balancing economic development and environmental stewardship, along with its architecture and history of resilience is what drew him to Gilpin County.

The next one will be September 25, 2018 at the Old Courthouse, 203 Eureka Street and will begin at 6:30 p.m.  

The Sheriff's Office will be accepting sealed bids for a Commercial Washing Machine with a 45-pound capacity and installation to adequate unilities.  Bid will be posted until September 16, 2018.  If you are interested please download the flyer and you will get full information about the process.
