Elections - Judges Income Tax Information

Will I get a W-2 because I worked Election Day?

For most, the answer will be no.  However, depending on the amount of election wages earned the answer could be yes.  Here is a schedule that describes when a W-2 would be issued and related FICA tax information:

·         Wages $1-599, W-2 not issued, not subject to FICA

·         Wages $600-1,499, W-2 issued, not subject to FICA

·         Wages $1,500+, W-2 issued, subject to FICA

The above represents the 2012 FICA coverage threshold of $1,500 (this threshold typically changes each calendar year).

Do I have to report the Election wages on my Federal and State tax returns?

Please contact your tax accountant.
