How do I become eligible to vote?
In order to be eligible to vote, you must register in the county in which you reside. By registering, you declare your residency in the State of Colorado within the county and district of your actual physical residence. You must register 29 days or more before the election to be eligible to vote in an upcoming election.

YES!  Please visit www.GoVoteColorado.com to register to vote or to change any of your information.

How do I update my address information after I've moved?
If you move from your voter registration address, you must change your address with the County Clerk and Recorder. You may either mail your address change to our office or you may stop in our office in the county courthouse.

PLEASE NOTE: If changes are not submitted 29 days or more before the election you may be subject to delays at the Vote Center when you vote.

How do I obtain an Absentee Ballot?

Print the Absentee Ballot Application and complete.

OR

Write us a letter requesting an absentee ballot be mailed to you. You will need to print your full name, date of birth, address that you reside at in Gilpin County, address that you want the ballot mailed to, and your signature.

Where do I vote?

You will be able to cast your ballot by any one of the following methods:

  • In person at any of the Vote Centers on Election Day
  • In person at the Early Voting Office, in Central City at the Old Courthouse
  • By mail via Absentee Ballot

Absentee Ballot:


If you prefer, you may vote by mail via an Absentee Ballot.  Absentee Ballots must be applied for each calendar year and you must indicate for which elections you want a ballot mailed to you.  You will also need to indicate the address to which you want the ballot mailed.
