How do I become eligible to vote?
In order to be eligible to vote, you must register in the county in which you reside. By registering, you declare your residency in the State of Colorado within the county and district of your actual physical residence. You must register 29 days or more before the election to be eligible to vote in an upcoming election.
How do I update my address information after I've moved?
If you move from your voter registration address, you must change your address with the County Clerk and Recorder. You may either mail your address change to our office or you may stop in our office in the county courthouse.
*PLEASE NOTE: If changes are not submitted 29 days or more before the election you may be subject to delays at the Vote Center when you vote.
How do I obtain an Absentee Ballot?
Print the Absentee Ballot Application and complete.
OR
Write us a letter requesting an absentee ballot be mailed to you. You will need to print your full name, date of birth, address that you reside at in Gilpin County, address that you want the ballot mailed to, and your signature.

The last day to apply for an absentee ballot is October 30th (If you want it mailed to you) for the 2007 Election.

Where do I vote?
You will be able to cast your ballot by any one of the following methods:
In person at any of the Vote Centers on Election Day
In person at the Early Voting Office, in Central City at the Old Courthouse
By mail via Absentee Ballot
Early Voting Site:
If you choose to cast your vote prior to Election Day at the Early Voting Office in Central City, it will be open from October 22nd through November 2nd for the 2007 Election. Hours are 7:30 am - 5:30 pm.
Absentee Ballot:
If you prefer you may vote by mail via an Absentee Ballot. Absentee Ballots must be applied for each calendar year and you must indicate for which elections you want a ballot mailed to you. You will also need to indicate the address to which you want the ballot mailed. Please note if you need it mailed to different addresses. See above for instruction regarding Absentee Ballot applications.

What if I make a mistake on my ballot?
If you make a mistake on a ballot, return it to the election judges and they will issue you a new one. Remember, according to Colorado law, you're authorized as many as two replacement ballots to correct your mistakes. If you have a ballot mailed to you and a mistake is made, please contact the Clerk and Recorder’s office at (303) 582-5321.

How may I obtain a certified document based on voter registration for in-state tuition and travel purposes?
The certificate costs $1.25 and can be obtained in person or by mail.
