The County of Gilpin does not charge a sales tax.  The only sales tax charged within the unincorporated portions of Gilpin County is Colorado's 2.9%.  Central City's sales tax  rate is 4%; for Black Hawk's sales tax information, please call City Hall at 303-582-5221.  If a transaction occurs within unincorporated Gilpin County (outside these two cities), only the State's 2.9% would apply.
